Can I make some decent money with a website like this?

I’ve heard quite a bit about affiliate marketing. I might start an informational site, with good original content written by me. On the site, I’d have Google Adsense, and also some affiliate links to products related to the niche.

If I can get some good traffic to the site, could I make some decent money with it?

Depends what you mean by "decent" money. You need A LOT of traffic to make a nice amount with Adsense, you need 10,000′s of visits just to make a few dollars.
