Where to look for diamonds in the rough? Niche Markets?

I am looking for a company I can invest a bit money into well establish but unknown company. How and where do you find these gems?!! Is there a website that tracks new trends and niche markets or unknown companies? I am not really interested in penny stocks. But companies with a promising future.

To conclude. The iPad looks amazing and with a price of EUR499 it will sell really well. But much like the 1st iPhone launch the iPad has some obvious shortcomings. It isn’t really fast, has no webcam and on top of that the software is lacking premium computing features. With that said I might still get one if the experience is as amazing as Steve Jobs expressed during his presentation. Which knowing Apple will probably be the case.

The platform of the iPad depends on the iPhone operating system; the same one that powers the iPhone. As such, iPhone developers will not need almost any additional training to develop apps for the iPad. All they have to do is increase the resolution of the app window, and they are all set. In fact, if you have had iPhone apps built in the past, you might want to have those ported to iPad as well. Since there are no new technologies to learn, the application development process will be real quick and hassle-free. Thus you can a whole library of apps ready at the cost of little investment.
